The Polestar 1 is one of the most significant Nordic cars ever produced — a 619-horsepower plug-in hybrid grand tourer built on a carbon fiber structure, with a twin-turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre engine augmented by two electric rear motors. Only 1,500 were produced globally across three years. The K.S. designation references Kung Stig — King Stig — the pseudonym used by Polestar's test drivers during development. The Polestar 1 demonstrated that Volvo's performance division could produce a world-class grand tourer entirely on its own terms, with a level of refinement and performance that surprised the entire automotive world.
